YAGNI stands for "You Ain' t Gonna Need It", too German: "You will not need it ". It designates a technology extremes of the Programming, which means the fact that in a program only functionality should be implemented if is clear that this functionality is actually used.

Against this procedure it is in practice often tried to develop programs in such a way that changes of requirement are to be converted easily, which leads to more complex programs. Often it turns out later that this auxiliary expenditure in vain was, because requirement the considered at the beginning actually never resulted.
