A workshop is work place with existing tools or machines to the manufacturing or repair of production goods.

In preindustrial time workshops were the only places, in which one produced. (see also: Manufaktur)

Today workshops are particularly in crafts enterprises, as for instance carpenters or fitter workshops, Schneidereien, Spenglereien or autoworkshop and/or in the artistic range common as Ateliere. In the culture enterprise there are besides culture workshops or theatre workshops.

A workshop can be in the transferred sense in addition, a meeting or a learning unit. This term stresses the release from problems, or also direct practicing at the topic. (see also: Learning workshop).
