The water rescue made it's duty to save persons, who are at, on and in the water in emergency. Besides prevention (clearing-up over dangers at and in the water, training in swimming) is a substantial task of the water rescue organizations.

In addition among its tasks the medicalofficial supply and support on that and at the water, the salvage of special goods from water and ice danger and the execution of tasks of dipping, rank e.g. water-lateral dyke security work. The water rescue supports other relief organizations, e.g. by transport of task forces and material on the water or by security of task forces with work on and on the water. At large lakes like the Bodensee she takes over the distress emergency service.

Water emergency service

The water emergency service can fundamental be arranged into three ranges: The guard service, either in direct responsibility (e.g. Guard service at rivers and lakes), in private order (e.g. with camping sites at excavator lakes) or in the public order (e.g. Guard service at public waters or in swimming pools). For this the rule guard service in such a way specified at much frequented waters, with firm or mobile water rescue act ions counts, as well as the central water emergency service at the north and Baltic Sea coast.

Trained water rescuers supervise meetings at the water and supervise open-rir swimming pools, indoor swimming pools and bath lakes.

With water-been awake in the German Red Cross there is its own training as the water rescuer in the water emergency service, the condition for some training further (e.g. to the rescue diver or to the motorboat leader) is. For the training the German rescue swimming badge becomes presupposed in silver and German Red Cross medical training A+B.

Structure

Tactical unit of the water emergency service are independently applicable groups of water rescues and record groups (SEG) water rescue. A group of water rescues covers a boat troop and a dipping troop. Responsible with an employment here the employment leader is water rescue. It is supported thereby by a dipping employment leader (TaEF), that is exclusively over the members of the dipping troop instruction-authorized. In the emergency the groups of water rescues are combined into a water rescue course.

Organizations

In Germany the water emergency service is noticed by four large relief organizations, the German lifesaving company registered association, the German society for the rescue of shipwrecked ones (see also: Distress rescue), is awake in the German red cross and the ASB.

In addition take part also the Federal Institution technical welfare organization (THW), the fire-brigade and the organization of Freiwilliger Seenot-Dienst (FSD) at the water rescue.

The water rescue is usually accomplished in Austria by the Austrian water rescue With the increase of outdoor activities such as Canyoning or Rafting the specializes among other things in the rescue from game water dangers. Also different relief organizations are active in the water rescue.

In Switzerland the water rescue is accomplished by the Swiss lifesaving company (SLRG). It accomplishes among other things also the distress emergency service on the Swiss side of the Bodensee.

Internationally the water rescue is represented by ILS (internationally live Saving Federation).
