Innovations/changes 1991

  • Innovation: Pedalerie - it is a new suspension
  • Changes of detail:
    • New inside mirror, which can be also dipped the headlights now
    • The towing eye in the back is introduced now also in the case of the sedan
    • Seats are taken in front out of the OPEL shelf (cadet) and made wait castle conformal by adapters
    • Door purchase is again changed; new OPEL grasps (cadet) are blocked likewise

The so-called '' Irmscher Wartburg '(waiting castle "new LINE ") was the last attempt to make the waiting castle again saleable. This venture failed however after two prototypes. Today are however still isolated Irmscher rims, angel man mirrors, ventilated disc brakes and 5-Gang-Getriebe in some vehicles blocked. The 5-Gang-Getriebe offers some advantages opposite the 4-Gang-Version. On the one hand it is not closely, which with the 4-Gang-Getriebe is very rare, on the other hand is the transmission overtaxed and increases besides the on approx. 170 to 180 km/h.

10. April 1991: Attitude of production. The last waiting castle comes on this day after over 90 years AWE off the line.

1992-2001/2002: An initiative of ScanCar, which brought successor company out of the automobile work iron oh GmbH, 1992-1994 also new vehicles, which were manufactured however probably only in a small number from spare parts. Details are not well-known.

Altogether it is to be said that the new waiting castle 1,3 somewhat rounder and more out-fermented was than the 353W. In addition, one should regard the period here. The 353w was manufactured from 1966 to 1988 in nearly unchanged form, up to the Facelift 1984/1985 hardly gave it to innovations. The investments of approx. 7.25 billion GDR Marks (without transmissions) had not been worthwhile themselves; a complete self-development would have cost only approx. 4 to 5 billion Marks (inclusive work renewal in iron oh). The Volkswagen engine was evenly a default made of Berlin, not out iron oh. (Source: MDR television, the waiting castle story, 01." May 2006, 22:00)
