Wolfgang Mueller von actually Peter Wilhelm Karl Mueller (* 15. March 1816 in king winters; "† 29 June 1873 in bath Neuenahr) was a physician, politician as well as poet of patriotic lyric poetry, popular Volkslieder and legends.

Life

Wolfgang Mueller was born as a son of a physician in king winters on the Rhine. The father pulled later after mountain home, where he spent his child and youth time. From 1827 to 1835 it visited the High School in Duesseldorf and wrote during this time already first poems. In the art-interested parents' house he became acquainted with the painters Alfred Rethel, the Jakobs Becker and Andreas's oh brook and preserved time of its life a large preference to the forming art.

When desired its father studied Wolfgang Mueller starting from 1835 medicine at the University of Bonn and sought beside contacts to poets and text passages to attach (Karl Simrock, Ferdinand Freiligrath among other things). it changed 1838 to the University of Berlin, where it completed and afterwards as a surgeon with the military in Duesseldorf worked 1840 its state examination.

1842 it continued its medical studies in Paris, where it met with Heinrich Heine, Franz of Dingelstedt and George Herwegh. After the sudden death of its father it established itself in Duesseldorf as a practical physician. 1847 he married Emilie Schnitzler. One year later it became member of the Vorparlaments in the Frankfurt Paulskirche. 1853 it gave its occupation of physician up, pulled to Cologne and became a free writer.

Suffering from the liver was 1873 the cause for a removal after bath Neuenahr, where he deceased in the same year at the age of 57 years. Its grave is in Cologne.
