Wistron is a large taiwanischer OEM manufacturer of hardware products as for instance PC or Notebooks. The naming results out "wisdom" (wisdom) and "electronics" (electronics).

Formerly as division "Design and Manufacturing services (DMS)" the Acer Inc. functioning, its activities were separated 2000 as independent enterprise Wistron of the Acer Group, in order to achieve a clearer separation of the business under own label name from the OEM manufacturing.
