Franc Winfield Woolworth (* 13 April 1852 in Rodman, New York; "† 8 April 1919 in Glen Cove, New York) was the founder of the US-American department store and supermarket chain Woolworth.

The farmer son made teachings as a retail trade buyer and opened to 1879 its first own shop - a cheap shop with full assortment. The business model was nearly equivalent in the time of the large immigrant waves into the USA to a license to money pressures.

1911 could do the 1000. Branch to be opened and the chain was present in the entire USA. 1913 built as firm center the Woolworth Building for Woolworth, at that time with 241 meters height the highest building of the world until 1929. Winfield Woolworth paid with at that time 13.5 the tremendously expensive building in bar to million US Dollar!

At the so-called "gold Coast" on Long Iceland built itself the aging entrepreneur "Winfield resound", an enormous 56-Zimmer-Landsitz. There its unfortunately married daughter took itself the life, so that its granddaughter Barbara hat clay/tone became its sole heiress.

With its death Winfield possessed the tremendous sum of 65 million US Dollar and was thus a richest buyer America.
