William vineyard (* 1862; "† 1937) were a German physician, leaving researcher and a Genealoge. It made contributions to the twin research and population genetics. After it the Hardy vineyard law is designated.

Life

William vineyard was born 1862. It was married and father of five children. It had a practice as a gynecologist in Stuttgart. 1908 it describes the fundamental law of the population genetics in its book, later than Hardy vineyard equilibrium designation:

In an ideal population the frequency of the genes does not change, if no external influences influence such as migration, selection or mutation. The allele frequencies remain constant.

William vineyard and the English mathematician Godfrey Harold Hardy came independently to the same result. The work from vineyard was rediscovered only decades after its death by the Genetiker Curt star.
