William Stewart Halsted (* 23 September 1852 in New York town center; "† 7 September 1922 in Baltimore) was an US-American Chrirurg.

Halsted was since 1886 a professor in Baltimore.

It introduced the use of rubber gloves with operations. Halsted used tested cocaine injections in the self attempt to the local anaesthesia.
