William Ludvig Johannsen (* 3 February 1857 in Copenhagen; "† 11 November 1927) was a Danish Botaniker and Genetiker. It coined/shaped the term "gene "as carrier of the transmission.

Life

Johannsen was born as a son of an officer.

Johannsen led 1909 the terms "gene "(of Greek "bear "), "hereditary property "and "phenotype ".
