William Calley, (* 8 June 1943) was the responsible person US officer for the "massacre of My Lai", a war crime in the Viet Nam war.

To 16. March 1968 took a group of soldiers of the 11. Infantry brigade under line of the second lieutenant Calley the locality My Lai in the province Quang Ngai and killed thereby 503 civilians. The American press reported on 16 November 1969 for the first time on "the massacre of My Lai ".
