William by OPELs (* 1871; "† 1948) were one the founder of the German car manufacturer OPEL. In addition it introduced assembly-line to the German automobile industry.
His father, Adam OPEL, created OPELs 1862 at Ruesselsheim as a manufacturer of sewing machines, later however extended he the company to the Fahrradmanufaktur. After the death of its father 1895 took over its five sons the company. 1898 brought William and its brother to Fritz the company into the automobile industry with the purchase of the small Lutzmannfabrik in Dessau.
Together with its brother Heinrich became William to 13. March 1917 in Darmstadt appointed from the Grand Duke to the secret advice. His brother Carl the same title became in the following year to 7. March lent.
