William Adolph Haussner (* 7 April 1819 in Plauen; "† 9. May 1849 in Dresden) was a physician and city delegate in Pirna, revolutionary from 1848/49 and insurgent with the Dresden May rebellion 1849.
Haussner originated from Plauen and was the son of the there city judge. Its father was during the revolution 1848/49 one of the considerable democrats of Saxonia. W.A. Haussner studied Leipzig medicine after conclusion of the High School since 1839 at the university. Because of burschenschaftlicher manipulation it was in accordance with-eat-regulated there. It already attained a doctorate to 1843 to the Dr. med. in June 1844 received it an employment in Dohna and established themselves at the beginning of of 1845 in Pirna as a physician. Haussner gave 5 since that. During the first revolution weeks 1848 its intention failed of creating a native country association in Pirna to one of those radical-democratic associations in Saxonia, which the bookseller Robert Blum in Leipzig initiated. The prevailing moderate direction in Pirna formed however on 16 April 1848 a German association.
In it Haussner could emphasize however ever more strongly its democratic opinions. This expressed itself in its choice to the delegated one of the general meeting of the German associations in Leipzig. That prevented it in addition, not to participate in the conference of the native country associations in Dresden. In November 1848 the political arguments in the German association reached their high point. Dr. Haussner succeeded with his convicition comrades and became a chairman.
In addition Haussner created a handicraft assistant association, which accepted the designation worker association later.

Starting from August 1848 the designation worker association arose. Thus also a change of the executive committee went, in which beside Haussner were now called: the Lithograph Ernst Julius Kubach, the manual worker Samuel God-dear bricklayer-associated to Carl Kiessling and the tobacco crank the Eduard Pankow.

Dr. Haussner as the mental activator of the association was rather radical democrat as in former times a socialist. It stood on the side socially at most disadvantaged one. In May 1849 Haussner supported the insurgent ones in Dresden. In the name of the committee of the German association to Pirna Dr. Haussner published a call on 30 April 1849 "fellow citizens of city and country"Â… ". It appeared as wall notice in Pirna and allegedly also in Dresden. In him Dr. Haussner requested to the fight against the advance of the countering revolution, which had dissolved the federal state parliament in Saxonia on 28 April 1849. "Men of the people! As one first Dr. Haussner hurried after outbreak of the fights (3. May) in the morning hours 4. May to Dresden. During the fights it was wounded, taken imprisoned, with other prisoners to 9. May 1849 over the Dresdens removes, over which railing murders pushed and from Prussian soldiers.
High treason procedure only on 27 November 1849 one opened, against the survivors of committee members of the German association. They received acquietal, after they had not sworn the call known and also not to have signed. Haussner would completely alone have acted. They rolled all debt on it.
In Pirna today a school (Dr. carries - William Adolph Haussner middle school, Schillerstr. 38) and a road with the cemetery its name. A Gedenktafel is at its former house in the Dohnai road, corner bar beer lane.
