On 26 April 1921 the company Heinrich game, workshop for precision mechanics and optics in Heerbrugg was created of three Swiss technicians:

• the surveyor and inventor Heinrich game from Glarus
• the officer Jacob Schmidheiny out bellows oh
• and the geologist Dr. Robert Helbling from Flums.

Their emphasis was the building of optical-mechanical measuring instruments, under which soon the theodolites enjoyed special call by different patents of Heinrich game (in particular the types T1 and T2). 1923 were renamed the company in "sales corporation Heinrich Wild's geodetic instruments".

Later also instruments for the Fotogrammetrie were produced, while it came in the course of further innovations to conflicts and separated H.Wild from the company. It brought in then its invention spirit starting from into the companies core & CO in the centralSwiss Aarau, which grew up to a serious competitor of the Heerbrugger of enterprise.

This was transformed 1954 to game the Heerbrugg AG. Still by game developed the theodolite row proved as so successful that the names T1 to T3 were maintained even for newer constructions to approx. 1980.

Starting from 1972 a co-operation of game Heerbrugg AG and Ernst Leitz Wetzlar GmbH developed. 1987 came the union of these two companies to game the Leitz group. To 13. May 1988 became the o.e. Aargauer company Kern & Co. AG taken over and on 1 January 1989 the game Leitz AG based. Already on 16 August 1989 further companies came such as Cambridge instrument, enrich & young and Bausch & Lomb in addition. 1990 were created under inclusion of the well-known camera producer the Leica getting thing B.V. group, which entered among other things into co-operation with electronics companies into the government inspection department market.

Starting from 1996 the company was divided gradually again into smaller units. Thus 1996 the Leica Camera AG developed, in October 1997 the Leica of geo system AG and on 1 April 1998 the Leica Microsystems AG.

Today these three companies are all independent public enterprises. Leica of geo system produced - in continuation of game Heerbrugg - the geodetic instruments and is in these sections of global market leaders.
