Wiking in Berlin is main a well-known manufacturer of plastic model cars, on a scale H0 ("hectar zero"), as accessories for model railways (Trix, meat man, Roco) and for collecting tanks.

Wiking started already in the 30's with the building of water liner models (war and trading vessels) made of lead/metal on a scale 1:1250. In the time during 2. World war served the ship's models, like also the again created airplane (starting from 1934/35) and armed forces models (starting from 1937/38) in 1:200 as recognition and/or sand box models of the military. 1938 was changed over the airplanes completely and some few ships to plastic. On the basis of the armed forces models made of metal also the first traffic model series was created, which was then stopped however due to the outbreak of war (development of the recognition models). The sales to the play trade decreased/went back in the course of the war ever more. Due to the activity as war-important enterprise and by the occupation of forced laborers, taken place via it, the company on the sides of the Jewish Virtual LIBRARY appears.

After the war there was briefly figures around the ark Noah, attempts with clay/tone models and other more, before in the automodels the future was seen. In order to be able to produce anything at all, first even combs and buttons were made of plastic. Furthermore the citizens of Berlin air lift 1948/49 with a small series of five airplane and two was accompanied vehicle models on a scale 1:400. At 1947 one began first with automodels, those partially only of a shaped part consisted, from downside hollow and their windows was partly painted (yardstick 1:100). The axles consisted of wire with flat pinched ends; they were into the still hot plastic squeezed and not mobile, only the wheels rolled on the axles. These early versions are also called by collecting tanks "Quetschachser/Drahtachser/Knipsachser". Later the models got a base plate and roll axes (yardstick 1:90), mentioned "Unverglaste of models Rollachser". Since the early 60's it gives "glassed" with transparent windowpanes. Interior arrangements completed the picture into the 70ern. Today partial original lacquers of the car manufacturers are used. The yardstick was adapted in the meantime on 1:87 (H0).

One produced the water liner models modified from 1949/50 again, later partially also than veteran series. About 1974/75 were adjusted this production line.

By the "silver series in such a way specified" into the 60ern one tried to sell again airplane models in 1:200 however without an economic success.

1981 died the firm founder Friedrich Karl Peltzer at the age of 78 years (* 5 February 1903; "† 20 November 1981). Some collecting tanks regard this time as the end of one era (the time of the representative models, the representation of the substantial one). 1982 were closed the branch office Kiel, in which above mentioned ships and also special models (larger yardsticks, orders for advertising) were manufactured. The branch Buer, as forerunners of Kiel, had been already given up 1953. In the year 1984 the sales took place to the group of they by (Siku). 1986 took place the removal of the old principal firm "under the oaks 101", where one resided since 1936, into the "industrial road 1-3". Had begun one 1932 in the Dahlemer road. Since 1995 one installs China in Poland, 1999 was added as production plant. The today's models represent another philosophy and to the time taste, the market laws and the competitors, like Herpa, Brekina, etc. adapted (term coined/shaped by Peltzer: "Servile reproduction").

Meanwhile old Wiking models are looked for pieces of collecting tank, which inspire a multiplicity at collecting tanks, predominantly men at the age of 35-60 years. Wiking is called as assembly area in a breath with Steiff or Kruse and finds as assembly area of always frequent attention in supraregional television or newspaper reports.

The most expensive ever Wiking car auctioneered in an auction is a orange pilot lot jaguar from the year 1955, which was auctioneered 2001 for 7762 euro, a decoration plate with 11 ship's models in the year before 8272 euro obtained.

Not to be forgotten also the trace N models should starting from 1969, which also a lover circle, not only among model railroadmen, to have.
