The West German blind hearing library registered association (WBH) in exists since autumn 1955, in order to make blind ones and high-grade Sehbehinderten of books and magazines accessible. The WBH as largest of its kind in Germany is in the surface covering net of the blind libraries primarily for North Rhine-Westphalia and Rheinland-Pfalz and responsible since at the end of of 2002 also for the Saarland. The chairman is Siegfried Volkert.

Procedure

The texts are noted by particularly trained speakers and sent away on demand to the users. Technically happened for many decades with tapes and/or musiccassettes. The proof of going blind or the Sehbehinderung, e.g. by means of severely disabled document of identification in copy, is demanded medical certificate, certificate of the local blind association. In many places the local blind association helps during the registration.

Legal entity shank and organization

The WBH is an institution of the "blind self-help". Carriers are accordingly the associations and federations war and civilblind in North Rhine-Westphalia, Rheinland-Pfalz and the Saarland. The operating cost of the WBH is financed by donations, membership dues of the basic associations and by the blind ones. In addition subsidies come from tax fundses.
