Werner Rolfinck (* 15 November 1599 in Hamburg; "† 6. May 1673 in Jena) was a German physician, natural scientist and a Botaniker.

Rolfinck was son of a Gymnasialprofessors. It studied medicine in Leyden, Oxford, Paris and Padua from 1616 to 1618 afterwards at the University of Wittenberg philosophy. 1625 graduation to the Dr. med. after short stay in Venice and Wittenberg he received a call to 1629 as a professor at the University of Jena where he the fan surgery, anatomy and Botanik represented. Besides it furnished a chemistry laboratory, in which it informed the students. 1638 he took over "the Exercitium Chymicum ", which became chemical instruction and 1641 as a professor for Iatrochemie destined.

During its experimental research it examined above all chemical reactions and iatrochemische effects of metals such as iron, zinc, tin, lead, mercury, copper, antimony, silver and gold. Among other things it rejected the view represented by Alchimisten that one could transform all metals into gold.

In its "theatrum anatomicum "Rolfinck accomplished public sections, particularly at executed criminals. This led to the decrease of the criminality in Jena, because one was afraid, after a crime ""(dissected) to become gerolfinckt.

Rolfinck spread the theory of the Blutkreislaufs set up by William Harvey 1616 and confirmed for the first time with a section the seat of the grey star in the eyepiece.

Rolfinck rendered large services around the Botanik. it furnished one "hortus medicus "(Botani garden), to which it introduced the medical students into the botany above all the welfare plants to 1631 in Jena.
