Wenzeslaus Brack, also Prack (* in Meissen, "† 31 October 1495 in Salzburg) was an early human and a physician.
Wenzeslaus Brack, which originated from Meissen at the Elbe, studied Leipzig starting from 1468 at the university and starting from 1469 at the University of Basel, where he made 1470 its Baccalaureus. it received a conclusion to 1477 as Magister artium.
Around 1480 it was appointed to the Konstanzer cathedral school, which was at this time only a simple latin school for preparation on university studies. it received the citizen right to 1486 in Konstanz. The scholar led the school some years, until he began a medicine study.
As a doctor of the medicine it ascended 1492 to the body physician of emperor Friedrich III. Later he became a body physician of the archbishop of Salzburg Leonhard of Keutschach. In Salzburg it died also; its widow returned to Konstanz.
Its library of 270 volumes donated the widow to the monastery Weissenau. Among them was handwriting of 12. up to 15. Jh. as well as incunabula.
As Bracks most important writing is considered its Latin-German special dictionary Vocabularius rerum, it let which pressure 1483 at printering Kolliker in Basel. It covers a vocabulary of approximately 3500 words and experienced within fewer years 12 editions. The book, which was meant for learning latin, is today an important source for the German-language vocabulary of the late Middle Ages.
1486 appeared its Grammatica: literalis scientia interpretata, latin a grammar, printed in Memmingen.
