The metal goods factory (WMF) has its head office in Geislingen at the Steige. The enterprise was created 1853 and produced up to today household and hotel goods made of glass and metal, among other things mess kit, kitchen devices, cutleries and drinking glasses.

The trade name Cromargan of the WMF stands for a stainless, acid-resistant high-grade steel from 72% steel, 18% chrome and 10% nickel. Chrome makes the material stainless, for nickel makes it acid-resistant and lends to it gloss. Cromargan is used predominantly for cutleries and kitchen devices.

History

The WMF is an AG, which is noted since 9 September 1887 at the stock exchange.

In February 1944 for the WMF an external bearing of the KZ Natzweiler Struthof was furnished. The prisoners of the camp had to work until April 1945 for the WMF. Afterwards the camp was dissolved.

Into the 1970er the WMF brought the legendary nut can to years on the market, a glass can with peanuts is filled and with a large cork locked on the table placed above, in order to portionieren from it the peanuts hygenically into the hand. Today the WMF markets among other things a child cutlery series named , which shows the Linux Maskottchen Tux on the fork.

Marks in the company

Since 1998 also Silit, a manufacturer of pots, to the WMF belongs. Silit is led further of the WMF as independent mark. Likewise the marks are assigned to the house WMF alfi, a manufacturer by thermal cans, wood grouse, offerer of high-quality cutleries as well as emperors Backformen.

Besides there is an association with the BHS Tabletop AG, which unites high-quality porcelain marks as Bau, Hutschenreuther hotel and beautiful forest under a roof.
