One year after appointment of the first German Federal Armed Forces soldiers took place on 01 October 1956 the list of the Wehrmedizinalamtes with three departments in Bonn, Remagen and Koblenz. The Wehrmedizinalamt worked as the Federal Minister of the defense a subordinate military agency and was entrusted with central medicalofficial tasks. With the structure of the armed forces, in particular the the task extent of the office grew. A development was inevitable, the extended order appropriate, a new structure appeared appropriate. This reorganisation terminated on 01 February 1965 and at the same time took place renaming in medical office of the German Federal Armed Forces (SanABw). The spatial accommodation of the medical office into the multistoried building at the plane tree way in Bonn took place 1971. By the income of the new structure on 01 October 2001 the SanABw changed itself from a command authority to the specialized office. New tasks taken over and also the command area changed seriously (so for example the German Federal Armed Forces hospitals the medical commands I-IV subordinated). With the new structure also the location of the medical office changed. In the summer 2002 it was shifted to Munich into the real estate of the federal administration center.
