The way cost guideline (or euro Vignette) is a planned guideline of the European union

History

The way cost guideline is a revised version of the guideline over the collection of fees for the use of certain traffic routes by heavy commercial motor vehicles from 17 June 1999.

In order to guarantee the development of the transportation network as a whole, the incomes from fees are to be used however for the use of the traffic sector and for the optimization of the overall traffic system.

There is intended of 25% for sensitive areas. Thus the possibility of the traffic management is particularly in ecologically sensitive areas, as are made possible the transit traffic over the alps.
