Knowledge-based construction (English Knowledge based engineering, briefly KBE) is a beginning for the integration of experiences from earlier construction procedures, manufacturing and expirations of assembly into (CAD) the construction process.

The KBE is to be usually realized by the support of the technical designer with appropriate software components in the CAD system.

Goals are the automation of repetitive routine activities of the technical designer and an improved standardisation.
