Walter Arndt (* 8 January 1891 in national hat, Schlesien; "† 26 June 1944 in Brandenburg) was a German zoologist and physician.

Life

At the university Breslau studied Arndt medicine and Zoologie. Already during its study it was invited by different societies to participate in different expeditions.

In this way Arndt investigated the high Tauern, Korsika and Norway. 1920 one appointed it for one year as the unsalaried employee of the zoo-logical institute of the University of Breslau. There it published its first research results.

1921 changed Arndt as Assisstent to zoo-logical Institut to Berlin. 1923 it was considerably involved in large-scale hydraulicchemical investigations in the North Sea. In Berlin it was promoted 1925 to the Kustos and 1931 to the o. Professor starting from 1926 functioned Arndt as a publisher of the fauna Arctica. 1938 one appointed it into the international zoo-logical nomenclature commission.

Because of critical expressions Arndt was denunziert 1944 and condemned to death. Despite several requests for grace from side Arndt at the 11 became. May 1944 in Brandenburg executed. Professor Dr. Walter Arndt died at the age of 53 years.
