Volkmar Sigusch (* 11 June 1940 in bath forest (or)), physician and sociologist are Sexualfor. He is, a director of the institute for Sexualwissenschaft at the clinical center of the Goethe university Frankfurt/Main.

Life

Sigusch studied medicine, psychology and philosophy (with Horkheimer and Adorno) in Frankfurt/Main, Berlin and Hamburg. At the University of Hamburg it habilitierte itself 1972 after psychiatric training for thereby for the first time of a university as independently recognized subject "the Sexualwissenschaft ". Since its appointment to the again furnished Frankfurt chair for Sexualwissenschaft in the same year it belongs to the specialist area society sciences as an university teacher apart from the specialist area medicine also.

Today Professor Sigusch, who among other things created 1973 internationally the Academy for Sex Research as well as William of Masters, John Money, Gunter Schmidt, is one the most outstanding Sexualwissenschaftler of the world. It is considered as pioneer of the German Sexualmedizin (first empirical studies and theoretical papers for the conception of this discipline end of the 1960er years) and loud "large Brockhaus "as a founder of the critical Sexualwissenschaft. Its book "the Mystifikation of the sexual one "is into the philosophique universal Les of oeuvres philosophiques (Paris: Presses Universitaires de France 1992) taken up and there introduced as a work of the century. In the year 2000 Martin Dannecker and Reimut realms, which habilitiert themselves with it, in the Campus publishing house dedicated the anniversary publication and society with contributions to him considerably researcher inside and researchers, under it Isabelle Azoulay, Amendt, Werner Bohleber, Wolfgang Fritz Haug, Ruediger sound man and Stavros Mentzos.

Sigusch is among other things co-editor of the book series of contributions to the Sexualforschung in the psychosocial publishing house pouring (so far 87 volumes) and the magazine for Sexualforschung in George Thieme publishing house Stuttgart and New York (so far 18 classes) as well as CO editor of German and international technical periodicals. Between 1979 and 1986 he published the very much spread Periodikum concretely. At present Sigusch writes regularly a column ("the sexual question ") in the feuilleton Frankfurter Rundschau.
