Volker of ter Meulen (* 1939) is a German physician. It concerned itself in its scientific research particularly with the pathogenesis and immune reaction of viralen infections of the ZNS. He did also in the area of the science politics out and used themselves approximately for a promotion of the Prionforschung. It sits in the executive committee of the Bavarian research group Prionen.

Life

From 1963 to 1965 Volker of ter Meulen was as a physician at the Children's hospital in Philadelphia, the USA before he 1968 at the University of Goettingen habilitierte. A one year's Gastprofessur at the University OF California, Berkeley followed 1969. Finally 1975 a call took place to the University of peppering castle, where he taught and researched as a tidy professor for clinical Virologie and Immunologie.

1984 were taken up Volker of ter Meulen as a member of the Leopoldina (German academy of the scientists) and finally selected part here there on 13 February 2003 as a successor of Professor Dr. Benno to the president of the Leopoldina.
