VOLG is a medium sized detail trading organisation in east Switzerland. The name of the enterprise developed from the acronym for the association of eastSwiss agricultural cooperatives.

VOLG operates which over 600 sales offices is distributed over whole German-language Switzerland. These shops form particularly in structure-weaker rural areas the last still remaining detail commercial structure in the food and Non Food range. They make a buying possible "before the entry door".

The VOLG is today (2003) present in 17 cantons. The traditional emphasis lies in the cantons Aargau, Zurich, Thurgau and grey federations (east Switzerland). In the last years the VOLG in the cantons Berne and Solothurn removed the sales office net saliently. VOLG is ready to take over from the Bon appetite group the supply of the past Primo and vis A vis branches if the independent entrepreneurs wish it.

The VOLG shops set independently of the shop size on fresh products. Thus they have also their own baking station directly in the shop. Since the baker's shops had to close on the country except for few exceptions, that is an important contribution for supply of fresh bread. The local rootedness of the VOLG shops shows up in the fact that in each VOLG also products of the regional surrounding field are offered.

From the distribution center in Winterthur the sales offices are central supplied. Regional fresh services provide for shorter routes of transportation.

The enterprises of the VOLG group belong to fenaco. This Swiss rural economy belonging enterprises developed 1993 from the fusion of six agricultural cooperative federations.
