Viktor Adolf Pollak (* 17. March 1917 in Vienna; "† 29 April 1999 on the Atlantic) was a Austrian-Canadian medicine technician.

Life

The Pollak originating from a Jewish family buildup after the death of its parents with its uncle in Czechoslovakia. There it visited a Prager High School and began a study of electro-technology and medicine, which it had to break off after German occupation.

1941 were deportiert the family into the Ghetto Theresienstadt. After the release in the year 1945, which did not experience the family of its uncle any longer, it took its study and graduated 1946 first with a diploma conclusion of electro-technology later also to the medicine.

Professor Dr. Pollak researched in the area of the medical technology and was active until 1968 in Europe, South America and Asia, besides it developed Designs for the Czechoslovakian Telefongesellschaft Telsa. Starting from 1968 it worked at the Canadian University of Saskatchewan, where it became to appoint 1970 to the chair for bioengineering. Also after its retirement in the year 1984 Pollak continued its research and publications. In the year 1999 Pollak deceased during a ship journey to Europe.

In the year 2004 its widow Mirka Pollak donated the Viktor and Mirka Pollak fund for medical technology in accordance with the legacy of her man, from which an amount of 100.000 $ was issued to the RWTH Aachen and from that with 2000 "€ endowed at present annually Viktor and Mirka Pollak price for medical technology for the promotion of medicine-technical research work at graduates of the university is lent.
