Vaclav Klement (* 16 October 1868 in Welwarn; "† 12 August 1938 in Boleslav) applies together with Laurin as the founders of the automobile company "Škoda.

The technically inspired Czech bookseller bought 1894 a bicycle. When this had to be repaired, he addressed himself to the Dresden manufacturer Seidel & Naumann. It wrote a letter in its native language Czech the manufacturers. These answered it: "If you of us an answer to have want, then we require your report in a language" understandable for us. Clement was annoyed in such a way on the fact that he decided short hand to manufacture as well as Vaclav Laurin in the future bicycles and it those in Dresden to show.

Both created a bicycle factory in Jungbunzlau named L&K (Laurin & Klement). These bicycles sold themselves very well. Since 1899 Laurin and Klement manufactured motorcycles. Rising sales figures and ever better achievements constituted this company. In the year 1905 K&P manufactured then also automobiles. 1925 took place the fusion with the "Škoda works in Pilsen, the vehicle mark Laurin & Klement expired and production took place from now on under the name "Škoda. Vaclav Laurin, its partner, died 1930 and Vaclav Klement in the year 1938.

The company "Škoda remained until today and is considered as one of the prominent car manufacturers, from the mechanical engineering company of the same name in Pilsen is again separate it. Since 1991 Skoda belongs to the Volkswagen company. The company headquarters is still in the founder place Mlada Boleslav in the Czech republic.
