The value current analysis is a procedure, with which material and information flow of the entire creation of value chain, on the basis of which Teilelieferanten, over whom production up to the final customer are illustrated. The procedure is used separately for each product family. The non-worth-drawing processes are identified. In the second step a flow of material is created, with which the non-worth-drawing activities eliminated. The necessary measures are held in an activity plan, which is converted step by step.

Core result of the value current analysis is the relation between the total turn-around time and the pure operating time. At one total turn-around time of for example 4 weeks the pure operating time can amount to only 10 minutes. Value-drawing at this process are only the 10 minutes, in which the workpiece is worked on - the remainder is either unavoidable non--creation of value or but Verschwendung, which applies to minimize it.

In particular in the Toyota production system the elimination of the Verschwendung is an important component. The Japanese word for Verschwendung is Muda, the procedure for the removal of the Verschwendung is Muda Elimination.
