Tungsten Alfred Maximilian Paul von Hanstein (* 25 February 1899 in Berlin beautiful mountain; "† 12 June 1965 east Berlin, GDR) was a second lieutenant a.D., writers, and secret agent.

Family

Hanstein was the son of the poet, writer and private lecturer Professor Dr.phil. Adalbert of Hanstein (1861-1904) and the Wanda Hagen (1869-1945).

Life

Tungsten of Hanstein, third child from good-civil house, put the wo1 exam down after the attendance of the institute for cadet and 1918 to the second lieutenant was carried. It participated 1920 in the cut Putsch and was active in the free corps pure hard. From 1921 to 1925 it studied law and learned parallel to it the occupation of a publishing house buyer. 1925 he transferred the Voco publishing house, which he shifted some years later to Berlin to Leipzig. From Hanstein wrote under his name and several aliases (mountain Berger, Hellan, bright, young) fairy tale books, crime films and historical novels. <p>

In the years 1922 to 1931 he was several times condemned because of tax evasion and other financial crimes. <p>

At the beginning of of 1933 published a collection of texts of different authors from Hanstein "against the national socialism", for which it had to spend some weeks in detention. 1935 it was excluded because of its previous convictions provisionally from the realm bibliography chamber, could publish however further. Its book "of the good mountain" was published 1940 even as book gift of the brown book ring in the National Socialist contemporary history publishing house. Because of "political unreliability" 1941 its final distance from the realm bibliography chamber took place. Nevertheless he as a film script author and director for lehr and industrial films could work. <p>

1944 it moved to Tharandt with Dresden and closed there its fifth marriage. When the Soviet troops moved close, led of Hanstein them by the mine fields. Thus it contributed to the avoidance of bloody fighting and was recommended thereby to the new Machthabern.<p>

From Hanstein became the joint founder of the Saxonian CDU and the culture federation. it occurred 1947 the SED. The Voco publishing house, which it had shifted it to Dresden, was at the time the only private publishing house in the Soviet zone of occupation, whose edition numbers with those of the SED and SMA publishing houses could compete. "Of the good mountain" was the first pure maintenance novel, which - despite scarcity of raw materials and sharp censorship - was allowed to appear in the Soviet zone of occupation. From Hanstein possessed extraordinarily good relations with Soviet crew power. Since he had handed lists with the names of national socialists to the Soviet safety organs over, he was led by the MGB (Soviet Ministry for public security) as a "secret coworker". <p>

Ever more frequently journeys led it into the western zones of occupation, where it looked for contacts to SPD politicians. As can be prove it was intelligence-wise active thereby. Gradually however it the Soviet secret service suspected "‚doubled Spiels'. whether it a double agent was real or became "confidence-buildingly active" only, is not not proven. Anyhow by Hanstein 1951 of the Soviet secret service one arrested and one accused of the espionage for West German, French and American services. 1952 he was condemned to death. A pardon was rejected. From political considerations the judgement was converted however into a detention of many years. <p>

In connection with the Adenauers' attendance in Moscow more amnestied of Hanstein in October 1955 as a "condemned war criminal" into the GDR one repatriated and entered immediately again into the agent business. This time for the MfS. One year later moved the family on behalf the HVA section chief max home into the Federal Republic. There it received remunerations for its Gestapohaft, the Soviet detention and a structure credit. <p>

Despite the warnings Federal Intelligence Service succeeded it to it to attach contacts to West German politicians of all Coloeur and persons from politics "to tax away" economics and society intelligence-wise. To 16. May 1959 fled the HVA section chief max home into the Federal Republic. Two days later by Hanstein and approx. one year was arrested was condemned later "because of nationaltraitorous relations in concomitance with nationaltraitorous conspiracy, state-endangering intelligence service and with political suspecting in the particularly heavy case" to six years penintentiary and loss of the civil civil rights for five years. <p>Anfang 1964 were interrupted the execution of sentences because of a heavy illness. When of Hanstein three months later to an official medical investigation one cited, it had set off long into the GDR. Still into the seventies it was publicized out for enforcement of the remaining sentence from 534 days to the search. <p>

It had died however on 12 June 1965.
