Tsai Wan lin (chin.: (* 10 November 1924 in Miaoli; "† 27 September 2004 in Taipeh) was a taiwanesischer entrepreneur. He was founder of the bank and insurance company Lin Yuan Group. Tsai was considered as a richest man of the country. With an estimated private possession of 4.6 billion US Dollar it was 2004 on place 94 to the list of the richest persons US-American restaurant magazine of the Forbes.

Tsai originated from poor rural conditions. Together with its brother it sold vegetables and soy beans as a child in Taipeh. The family could not afford the attendance of a higher school.

Together with one of its brothers Tsai followed 1960 credit-cooperative. Two years later created both the Cathay Life Insurance company, which is today the largest life insurance enterprise Taiwans. After the management of the Cathay Life became durably secured within the own family, they created both brothers 1979 the Lin Yuan Group. During the following ten years the Lin Yuan Group expanded for the largest company of the island.

The bank, the insurance section and the venture Capital Gesselschaft of the family were united to 2001 to the Cathay Financial of getting thing and are today the largest financial getting thing Taiwans.

Tsai appeared 1987 for the first time as a billionaire on the Forbes list. In the year 2000 he was appointed as an advisor of the president of the Republic of China.

Tsai died on 27 September 2004 in the Cathay General Hospital of Taipeh at the age of 81 years at a heart illness. It had created even 1977 the hospital.
