The traffic is the whole of all social, economical and technical institutions, mechanisms or principles, which for the production change of location process are needed with the goal of the change of the spatial existence of
- Goods (goods, services, capital, energy),
- Persons (including tourism) and
- Message (on material and not material carriers).
The traffic is expression of the mobility culture prevailing in each case. It e.g. covers.
- the economical industry "traffic and transportation "(traffic economy) with the enterprises, their business activity in the production of mobilities and/or traffic services (e.g. As well as transportation of human beings, goods transport, postal service, telecommunications) e.g. exists related industries, like the traffic faciltiy construction nature, the construction of vehicles and - repair and (see public traffic), whereby the intelligence is understood partly than a component of the traffic, even if the intelligence forms in the meantime one to a large extent from the traffic independent complex,
- the traffic policy and the traffic administration,
- the technical and organizational means, in order to realize traffic processes (branches of traffic and/or thus: Rail-bound traffic /Eisenbahn, Strassenverkehr and/or Kraftverkehr, Luftverkehr, Schifffahrt, Leitungsverkehr and
- the social aspects, like e.g. Mobility behavior,
- as well as used the traffic sciences and their institutions areas (traffic sociology, traffic economy, traffic engineering, traffic planning, traffic faciltiy construction nature, safeguarding of traffic nature, transporting enterprise technology u.v.m.),
- non-technical and/or closed traffic as well as further kinds of traffic (e.g. Motorized individual traffic, in-plant transport works traffic trade, pedestrian and bicycle traffic).
Traffic in the colloquial language
In contrast to the technical term "traffic" means the technical term "traffic" a PROCESS, the process of the change of location of goods, i.e. persons and messages. The difference: The traffic is a necessary condition, so that traffic processes can run off. If however in the colloquial language of "traffic in the Federal Republic" or "traffic in 19. Century" the speech is, then thereby ith D is. R. the traffic meant. Thus: Traffic is the colloquial short form of the technical term "traffic", however no synonym.
If the change of location process takes place, in order to change the spatial existence from persons and goods to, then one speaks of the transportation and/or of the transportation process.
