Russia does not rank among the classical tourist countries. In particular individual tourists are deterred frequently by the difficulties, which are connected with an attendance of this country (e.g. Bureaucratic obstacles during the visa procurement, made too expensive accommodations, language problems). Lately one strives from Russian side to make also individual journeys simpler. 2001 let 21.2 million foreign guests flow approx. 7.5 billion US Dollar to Russia.

However some cities and areas already enjoyed of the Soviet Union of large popularity at times at travel's groups. This did not change until today:

Moscow

Moscow, the largest and most important city of the country, mostly forms the starting point for further journeys. Objects of interest cover the Kremlin, the old part of town here around Red Square with the Lenin mouse oleum and the manege place, the shopping street Arbat, the department store GUM, the Bolschoi theatre, the Basilius cathedral, the Christian proceeds he cathedral and numerous museums.

Sank Petersburg

The old Zarenstadt sank Petersburg with their old palaces, museums and channels is frequently a goal of cruises on the Baltic Sea. Trans-Siberian railway

For the Trans-Siberian railway there are both overall offers in the form of rail cruises in Pullman trains as well as offers for backpack routes in rule courses. Objects of interest along the distance are different cities such as Nischni Nowgorod, Jekaterinburg or Irkutsk as well as the Siberian landscape (in particular the Baikalsee).

River cruises

River cruises on Volga whether, Lena or Jenissei enjoy of increasing popularity. These travels are mostly organized by Western European travel agencies. The ships possess likewise Western European equipment.

Black sea

With the designation "golden ring" one designates a group of very old cities in the environment of the capital Moscow with old parts of town, cathedrals and monasteries worth seeing.
