Tommaso Padoa Schioppa (* 23. July 1940 in UN, Venetien) be a Italian banker and political economist. At present he officiates as a Minister of Finance and economics in the Italian government.

Biografie

Padoa Schioppa is son of the Fabio Padoa Schioppa, a former chairman of the board of the Generali insurance.

After the Abitur in Triest Padoa Schiopppa at the Bocconi university in Milan studied and became 1966 diploma political economist. 1970 it supplemented its study with a master at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge (Massachusetts). It began its career with C & A Brenninkmeyer and 1968 it during the research department of the Italian issuing bank Banca d'Italia was employed.

From 1979 to 1983 he was a general manager for economics and finances of the European community. Between 1984 and 1997 he officiated as a deputy general manager of the Banca d'Italia. 1997 to 1998 he was a chairman of the Italian supervision by the stock exchange committee authority CONSOB.

Between 1999 and 2005 he was member of the board of directors of the European central bank.
