Thomas ("Tom") William Fox *1951, "† 2006, lived 2006 in Clearbrook, Virginia, the USA, as a hostage in the Iraq was murdered. Fox was an American force-free peace activist, for which as a representative the Christian Peacemaker team carried out two years up to its death peace work with CPT in co-operation with Iraqi human right organizations in the Iraq. The CPT is still one of the few in the Iraq active relief organizations.

Before it was involved in peace missions in Palestine. It was since 22 years of practicing and saw itself obligated to clear the American population over the frights of the war and its effect up on normal Iraqi families due to the US politics. Fox had worked before as a grocer. He was leader of youth programs and summer free times of the for children. He was kidnapped on 26 November 2005 in Bagdad as well as 3 other activists of the Christian peacemaker team. It concerned Norman Kember (74), Harmeet Singh Sooden (32) and James Loney (41). To 10. One found Fox' corpse to March 2006. On a kidnapper video from February he was not to be seen no more.

The Christian Peacemaker team (CPT) are peace activists of the Mennoniten and which accomplish world-wide force-free actions against wars. Meanwhile they experience for its force-free peace work support from many Christian municipalities. CPT sends teams of trained peace workers in crisis situations and militarized regions at different places of the world. In the center of the work the documentation and publication of violations of human rights are particularly located, regarding abusing of prisoners. In addition CPT contacts mediates between Iraqis and local as well as international human right organizations.

Kidnapping in the Iraq

On 26 November 2005 Fox as well as 3 was kidnapped to other members of the CPT team in the Iraq. The kidnappers threatened to kill all hostages, should the USA not all Iraqi prisoners in the USA and in the Iraq by 8 December 2005 release. Later they extended their ultimatum by 10 December.

On 10 December Katherine Fox with a message wound itself to the kidnappers, in which she says that they and their father believe that the Irakis has justified in relation to fears the USA natureness in the Iraq.

To 7. March showed the transmitter aluminium-Jazeera a video, which showed other three hostages, but not Fox.

To 10. March announced the US State Department that Fox' corpse was found.

To 23. March the three other hostages were released.
