The Timken company is a manufacturer of taper roller bearings and special steel with seat in CAN clay/tone in the US Federal State Ohio. It was created 1899 of Henry Timken as The Timken scooter Bearing Axle company in pc. Louis. One year before had already received a patent on its hardened camps to Timken.

1901 were shifted the company headquarters after CAN clay/tone, in order to be closer at the production places of the US-American stealing and automobile industry. 1916 began Timken with the steel production. If it concerned first an attempt of the quality assurance, then this division constitutes meanwhile a third of the incomes. Approximately 80% of the steel production go to external customers.

The Timken company is meanwhile an international enterprise, which is noted at the New Yorker stock exchange. After the restaurant magazine Fortune ranks Timken among the 500 largest US companies and maintains business activities into more than 20 countries, including Germany (among other things in in Westphalia resounds).

Timken transferred 2003 with the gate ring clay/tone company from Connecticut one of its main competitors in the division of the taper roller bearings. Since this competitor had manufacturing plants with low labour costs and without representatives for the employees in the south of the USA, Timken announced to want and 1500 working premises paint to give the own manufacturing plant up in CAN clay/tone within five years.

The current Ambassador of the USA in Germany, William R. Timken jr., was active over 43 years in the Timken company and during the last 30 years of chairmen of the enterprise.
