The third party business (also: Drop Shipping, direct dispatch) designates a trade in the delivery chain in logistics over a middleman. Characteristic it is here that this middleman does not have a physical contact with the commodity. The middleman acquires thus the commodity and sells this at its customers further, the supply of the commodity effected however directly from the manufacturer or wholesale dealer to the customer. Apart from the saving of camp and transport costs, the desire of the customer for certain products is to be usually had only one partner, the reason for a third party business.

Example spare parts supply

A customer needs a spare part for a vehicle and contacts the vehicle manufacturer. This supplies and places the calculation. The dispatch actually takes place however from the supplier or its wholesale dealers.

Example Internet dealer

The customer orders goods in the Internetshop. The Internetshopbetreiber does not have a camp, but reliable wholesale dealers as partner. The wholesale dealer receives the order from the Internetshopbetreiber to send the commodity (as neutrally as possible packed) directly to his customers.

In both cases the final customer pays to the middleman, of these accounts for with the actual supplier. The capital freeze into its own camp is avoided in such a way.

Demarcation

To define is the third party business of consignment or commission business.
