The Onion (English onion = bulb) is a satire magazine in English language, which appears weekly in the Internet and in different US-American cities also in the pressure.
The Onion is arranged as Parodie on a daily paper. Their US-American "model "is above all the newspaper the USA Today usually-sold there. The articles of The Onion commentate material like fictitious events from world and US-American home policy, the television, the world the Hollywood star and an abundance of the other social topics. The joke insists then frequently in the transmission of subjective observations on the objective style and the sober reporting of a newspaper.
Besides there is a statistics to an absurd topic, a Horoskop, which predict usually a greyful, but original death to everyone, and the current inquiry in each expenditure ("What DO You "and/or "American Voices ") to material today's political topics - whereby the answers are fictitious the names and occupations, but the Portraitfotos of the asked ones is never replaced. In the column "The Onion in History "appears in each case "the title page "by The Onion from one year 20. The satire newspaper is supplemented by the serious supplement (and/or Website) The Onion A.V. club, in which current CDs, books, DVDs, motion picture films and computer games are discussed critically. There are also interviews with actors and musicians, Cartoons and the Sex column Savage Love of Dan Savage.
The Onion was created 1988 in Madison (Wisconsin) by Tim saucy and Christopher Johnson, two students of the University OF Wisconsin. Later they sold one year the sheet, which was hardly more than one joke collection, for 19,000 dollar to the draughtsman and author Scott Dikkers and the Peter Haise. First The Onion found only local spreading, however with ever larger economic success. 1995 wanted to then dare the publishers the jump into the larger public: with an appearing regular Parodie on the appearing country-wide daily paper the USA Today.
