The Gambia internationally airlines, often as GIA shortened, is the national airline of the African State of the Gambia with seat in Banjul. It operates extensive passenger traffic in west Africa.

History

The airline was created on 23 January 1996 and started with the operational enterprise at the 1. March 1996. The society was first only as a dispatching company on the Banjul internationally air haven actively, extended however the division later on the active air service. In co-operation with the air Namibia gave it the first flight on 1 December 2000.

The ownership structure of the society lies to 99 per cent at the Gambian state and to a per cent with the Gambias Telecommunications company, which is again in the possession of the state the Gambia.

The Gambia internationally airlines approaches, after the conditions from January 2005, the following air targets:

• Dakar, Freetown, Lagos and London

Quick one

The fleet consists of Boeing 737-200 (conditions January 2005). In the past it had types of aircraft like the Fokker F-28 and Antonov An-22 for the Frachflugverkehr in the employment.
