The technical rules for elevators (TRA) are operational procedures compiled by the German elevator committee (DAA), which show the state of the art.

Elevators are monitoring-needy plants in the sense of the working reliability regulation and are subject thus to certain examinations (examination before start-up and recurring examination in certain periods) by certified supervisory bodies.

Historical

The city Vienna decided that in the year 1906 European-wide first elevator law. Since at that time lifts are examined by the Austria as of Europe the first inspection station for security of elevators.
