By team development on the one hand a quasi automatically running process is understood, which working groups and teams in the process of its existence phasenweise continuously (see Tuckman, 1965; "forming", "storming", "norming", "performing", "adjorning"). The team development as active, steered process serves the improvement of co-operation of coworkers on the other side, in particular with temporally limited projects. Willing to cooperate shank and team spirit are to be promoted, in order to increase the work efficiency team. Often thereby not only authority of individual team members or the whole group (e.g. communication) is optimized, but also again arranged structures of co-operation. As methods are used thereby beside trainings and Coaching moderated Workshops, feedback techniques or outdoor trainings (see Schmidt, & Breimer Haas, 2005).
Team development process
(after Tuckman)
- Forming phase ("forming") this is coined/shaped by politeness, careful scanning, props for security, "one" - orientation and becoming acquainted with. In this phase it is important the fact that the high-level personnel leads the team ("announces").
- Conflict phase ("storming") is coined/shaped by unterschwellige conflicts, self-manifestation (new) of the team members, the fight for (informal) guidance, "I" - orientation and clique formation. The high-level personnel must point goals out.
- Rule phase ("norming") is coined/shaped by developing new group standards and new Umgangsformen, feedback and exchange between the team members, like that as one "we" - orientation. The high-level personnel coordinates the individual tasks and persons.
- Operating phase ("performing") is coined/shaped by work orientation, flexibility, openness of the team members, solidarity, achievement adjustment and purposeful one acts the team. The high-level personnel needs little energy, there the team steers themselves and gives only global goals (visions) to a large extent.
