TDK (Tokyo Denkikagaku Kogyo K.K.) is a manufacturer of electronic components and storage media, for example CDs, DVDs, cartridges, memory cards etc. The company was created 1935 in Japan as a manufacturer of ferrite, which by Yogoro Kato one invented briefly before. Since 1998 is Hajime Sawabe president of the enterprise.

Starting from at the end of May 2006 will produce TDK no more CD and DVD blanks and will concentrate on the advancement Blu ray of the Disc. CD and DVD blanks are manufactured however further by ODM Drittherstellern for TDK (see also: Message on heise.de).

The division TDK Mediactive sells PC and video games as well as music DVDs.
