The Swiss Lokomotiv and engine works, also briefly SLM, is a Swiss enterprise of the heavy industry.

The company was created 1871 in Winterthur von Charles Brown. First business successes adjusted themselves with Zahnradlokomotiven, soon also with streetcars. Around 1890 was SLM the largest Swiss Lokomotivhersteller. With different manufacturers a co-operation for the building already early of the electric locomotives spread in Switzerland developed, whereby SLM supplied the chassis and superstructures.

Beside the Lokomotivbau there were also departments for engines, agricultural tractors and pumps. After the fusion with Sulzer 1961 this range of production was however stopped.

1998 were umfirmiert SLM in Sulzer Winpro and the staff, up to a trunk of 350 coworkers, to dismiss. Further the product range rack railways was sold at Stadler Rail. After a management Buy Out 2001 the Winpro AG was created, which engages itself in the range automotive, seeming vehicles, system and mechanical engineering. On 7 September 2005 Winpro was taken over completely by Stadler Rail.
