The suggestion hammer has its name from the stone-cutter trade, and/or of the outdated word for "suggest" (first strike). It is a large, hammer with long handle, with which "before" the stone is split. Afterwards the stone is worked on with the smaller, in-handled to the final form. The typical dimensions are:

Suggestion hammer: APPL.-yielded 3 to 15 kg, handle length 60 to 120 cm

APPL.-yielded 1 to 3 kg, handle length 20 to 40 cm

These two kinds of hammer are used also in the forging trade. Here however, if too secondly one forges, with the large (suggestion) hammer one looks up: after first forge (masters) with in-handled suggested (it has the other hand busily with the holding of the workpiece), strikes second forge (associated, to pin) with the two-handled large hammer on the same place after. Stand both the Schmiede against each other and strike successively - cross". Therefore the large hammer crosslay hammer is called here.

Contrary to other areas of application with Schmieden two-handle hammer "around" kept wrong: the main hand (with the right) is held the weaker hand at the head, down at the handle, in order to obtain higher precision of the impact. The large hammer is moved not with momentum over the head, but led only into the light elbow from top to bottom.

In interhuman relations the word is used "with the suggestion hammer", if an action is set very prononciert - without consideration for the other involved ones -.
