The stock availability or the stock availability degree (LBG) is a logistics characteristic number. It is a proportional ratio, which indicates the portion of the noticed orders of the quantity of the entire orders is as high:
Instead of the number also in each case the purchase order value can be considered.
Many enterprises are content with a stock availability of 90 95%, since reaching 100% would mean disproportionately high costs, since stock program costs increase clearly. On the other hand the conversion does not rise noticeably, since the goods are not often abverkauft. The profit diminishes itself.
Prognosticated deliverability can be determined by the definition of a suitable safety stock amount.
The stock availability degree essentially depends on the safety factor. The safety factor determines the height of the safety stock amount and is calculated as the "inverse standard normal distribution" for desired deliverability.
With a safety factor of 0,00 deliverability is with 50%. With rising safety factor deliverability increases:
| Safety factor (SF) | Deliverability (LF) |
|---|---|
| 1,04 | 85,0% |
| 1,28 | 90,0% |
| 1,65 | 95,0% |
| 2,05 | 98,0% |
| 2,33 | 99,0% |
| 3,09 | 99,9% |
A desired deliverability of 99,9% therefore needs a three times so high safety factor and an also three times so high safety stock amount in relation to a deliverability of 85,0%.
