Steve Rubell (* 2 December 1943; "† 25 July 1989) was an admitting homosexual and founder of the New Yorker discotheque Studio 54. The 1977 created club was closed later because of fraud and tax evasion and condemned Rubell to one and a half years detention on probation. After large consortia the club landscape took over, Rubell was used as advisor. The Studio 54 closed 1986 finally its gates.

Steve Rubell died in the summer 1989 at the age of only 45 years at AIDS, of its HIV infection knew it since 1985.
