The Stellmacherei is the workshop of a Stellmachers. This occupation originated in in early 19. Century from the two occupations Wagner and Rademacher. With the Kutschenbau the Wagner was responsible for the body, the Rademacher against it manufactured the wheels.

With the railway boom the talents of the Stellmacher were desired as a railroad car farmer. One needed their knowledge later in the building of bodies of the automakers. Since the introduction of industrieller assembly-line production the meaning of the Stellmacherei sank, so that it is generally almost unknown today (i.e. almost forgotten).
