The Steamboat Geysir (English Steamboat Geyser) is at present largest active Geysir of the world. It is in the Norris Geysir basin, in the Yellowstone national park (the USA), on a height of 2303 m NN. The Steamboat Geysir possesses two vents, about five meters from each other far away.

The can reach a height of over 90 meters. The highest ejection height ever measured amounts to 130 meters. An outbreak lasts 3 to 40 minutes, afterwards can the Geysir up to two days steam. The main eruptions take place irregularly; between two four days can be appropriate for such outbreaks until 50 years. Between them there are again and again smaller outbreaks of 3 to 5 meters height. Between 1911 and 1961 the Geysir slept.
