The staff line organization is one around the staffs extended form pure Linienorganisation.Der staff supports the superior, it is assigned to who. The staffs have under normal conditions no or all at the most technical instruction power in relation to the subordinated range. The staff line organization improves the decision quality and reduces the dependence of the superior on the subordinated range. It produced however higher costs and leads possibly to conflicts between the staff and line dependence.

A general staff was assigned to to the generals, which had fixed tasks to implement, but no decisions to make.
