The sparrow tax was a tax for the removal Haussperling, (called in the vernacular sparrow), as a parasit, in order to protect seeds. This tax was levied at many places.

1743 had to be delivered in the cure principality Hanover in certain number of sparrow EN, elstern and crow heads. For the a tax was to be paid.

A further example is issued a decree by Karl Eugen (duke of on 6 June 1789 in high home. Per person annually 12 living Spatzen were to be delivered, for which 6 cruisers were paid off.
